Mistakes-a-software-tester-must-avoidToday, software testers play a critical role in testing for programming and analytical skills. A tester thinks out of the box to explore more scenarios and bugs to ensure product quality. These are certain mistakes a tester must avoid:

  1. Bug Bot
    A tester should not be depended on the internet for the bug report.
  2. The ‘Programmer’ tag
    A tester’s strength is in testing the application. Testers usually do not code.
  3. Document Dependent
    An effective documentation that explains the requirements is mandatory before performing any test. However one must not be totally dependent on the documentation.
  4. An improper Testing Approach
    A tester must write decent bug reports. This will help him in investigating the case in detail. This will also ensure consistency in testing approach.
  5. The Investor
    A tester must work on the product to gain proper knowledge while performing test and creating reports.
  6. Protesting
    A tester must work on his responsibilities.
  7. The overcautious
    Testers work on being safe, they ensure that the requirements, documentations, and plans are specified before doing any tests. So a tester must explore new things out of their comfort zone.
  8. The Careless
    There are some careless attitudes that are avoided with time and experience. These mistakes include missing backup, leaving system out, snapshots etc.
  9. The Lazy Cracker
    With the development of automated software testing strategies, software testers gets the advantage to use the latest tools to test the complicated software. Hence it requires testing to be done correctly the first time.
  10. Dictatorship
    There has been an argument based on the ideas and solutions while the tester is testing. A tester must implement the ideas beneficial for the project.
