Android Auto is a new standard that has been developed by Google to help the mobile devices running Android Operating systems to be operated in the automobiles. Android Auto was built using Android Lollipop. Android Auto has standard offering like GPS mapping/navigation, SMS telephony, web search, touchscreen and button controlled units. This whole system is supported by hands free operation with the help of voice commands. To ensure safe driving we have voice commands for the same. There are some compatible apps for this android auto. These apps are TuneIn, Google maps, Google play music etc. This Android Auto is an initiative by Open Automotive Alliance and mobile tech supplier Nvidia supports the cause.

The objective of Android Auto is to extend the capability and the functions for an Android mobile device in a single dashboard for automobile. Android Lollipop is used on the mobile device to run an automobile system.

The Android device for the driver gets connected via USB Cable to the vehicle. The head unit will be the external display for the Android device, which in turn shall start the operation of the entire applications and software.

• Telephony features
• SMS can be composed and played back
• Searching the web for topics

There would be a new release of Android Auto software kit that will help the developers to modify their android auto application according to their requirement. It is the new invention by Google to bring the power to Android on the smartphones to control the nature of an automobile.

Hyundai Sonata is the first car that will have the Android auto installed in its system. Some automakers are in discussion to implement this new android feature in their automobiles.
